Today, on October 1st, we mark the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the #FeelItOnTheFirst initiative, a reminder to check ourselves regularly. Mumble Forum is excited to join forces with our member Laura Stowers along with Pink Ribbon Foundation and Women In Art to launch a fresh wave of awareness through the campaign #LookAtYourBoobs. This initiative centers around Laura Stowers' powerful artwork, encouraging women to embrace their health and well-being.
Breast Cancer: A Reality Too Close to Home Breast cancer remains the most common cancer in the UK, with one woman diagnosed every 10 minutes. That's approximately 55,000 new cases annually, including around 400 men. Alarming as this is, one in seven women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Despite numerous high-profile campaigns and fundraising efforts, over half of women in the UK still do not check their breasts regularly for signs of the disease. This underscores the ongoing need for awareness and education.
The #LookAtYourBoobs Campaign In collaboration with Laura Stowers, this campaign combines the power of art and activism. Laura's stunning work serves as both an expression of strength and a call to action for all women to prioritize their health.
To support this effort, Laura is releasing two exclusive prints today—one limited edition of 50 copies and one open-edition print. Fifty percent of all proceeds from the sales will go directly to the Pink Ribbon Foundation, helping fund vital support services and research for breast cancer patients.
We encourage everyone to share the #LookAtYourBoobs message with friends, family, and colleagues. Together, we can help shift the statistics and ensure that more women are checking themselves regularly, leading to earlier detection and better outcomes. This 2nd October, we're hosting a NIGHT IN PINK kicking off this campaign limited edition prints. We are grateful to the supporters who have come together to make this event possible, including Dara Maison, Lady A Wines, Cheffie London, Kokocai Events, and London Sound and Light. This event will be a celebration of community, creativity, and collective action. If you haven’t yet RSVP’d, join in via the Mumble App!
It’s set to be an unforgettable evening as we unite to raise awareness, celebrate Laura’s incredible work, and stand together in the fight against breast cancer. This October As we come together for this vital cause, let’s not forget that every voice matters. Whether it’s purchasing one of Laura’s stunning pieces, donating directly to the Pink Ribbon Foundation, or simply reminding the women in your life to check their breasts, every action can make a difference. Join us this October to spread awareness, spark conversation, and push for a future where breast cancer no longer claims lives. Together, we can make breast cancer awareness not just a month-long effort but a lasting movement.
